Michael Schumacher set for karting showdown in Vegas and our own Daniel Bray is racing as well !

USA SuperNationals has pulled off a major coup by persuading seven-time Formula 1 World Champion MichaelSchumacher to come out of retirement to compete in the upcoming SuperNationals at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, scheduled for Nov. 18-22. The F1 ace will compete in the SuperPro category against the top 125cc drivers from North America and the world, running with the factory Tony Kart team aboard a Vortex-powered Racer EVR.

“Having Michael on the grid for this year's SuperNationals is such an exciting addition for everyone on the SKUSA staff,” SKUSA CEO Tom Kutscher told eKartingNews.com. “The simple fact that he contacted us to be part of the race is huge! We've had the opportunity to watch some big name drivers run with us in the past, but there is no comparison with Michael. He's widely considered the finest driver in the history of the sport, and it will be an honor to have him take the green in Las Vegas. This is going to fire this year's race up to a whole new level!”

Before advancing to cars, Schumacher cut his teeth racing karts, beginning at his parent's track in Kerpin, Germany. Michael won the German Junior Kart Championship in 1983 and '84, and then the Senior title in 1986. He also scored the European 100cc Championship in 1986.

Schumacher has continued to use karting as a way to keep sharp and has made occasional returns to official competition, winning the Formula A event at the Monaco Karting Cup in 1996. He also jumped back into the deep end of the pool in 2001 when he ran in the Formula Super A class at the World Championships, finishing 21st overall.

Other former and current karting stars set to compete in the event for Tony Kart include Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice and Alex Speed, who'll race KF2 karts.

You should now also be able to see it all live and Daniel race from this site .

In regards to safety on the circuit there were some things that could have been improved on but in the whole the circuit was fast flowing and had very few incidents. There were no fixed marshall points and as such the marshalls moved about a bit in the way they cover any moments that happened (they could have done with a few more people with each marshall so that ones stuck in the barriers could have been cleared quicker). Not all barriers were water fill which meant when hit they moved easily the one on the inside entering the Tony Kart corner several times was sent spinning around also one on the TaG Juniors hit the barrier on the outside of pit sweeper sending it flying back towards the track on the other side. The media at times took some risks, when Snow and myself were on circuit we always ensured we had a heavy barrier between us and the action but as you will see from photos taken and in the videos that some members of the media got close to the action check out the shoot of Daly in KF2 parking up beside the French photographer taking shots sitting down at the corner he retired at. Maybe those curbs used at Tauranga could have been ideal set up in front of the corner barriers because once you hit the barrier it usually sucked you further in, thats what caused Schumy's retirement in session 2 as he clipped the barrier and spun and bent the front corner in the process.Snow and myself helped one of the juniors out of the barrier on the Saturday with a badly bent stub (didn't learn the lesson as he tried to go thru the same spot two wide in the final and nailed the same barrier).
Overall well run meet with room for improvement.

all the video footage runs through the mychron system. so this is how it gets the revs and speed ext. was just a normal mychron but where you put the cable for gps system you put the camera instead.
oh and daniel i not sure about you being faster than Piquet....ha

Hey nice finding on the onboard Robert. I would like everybody in New Zealand to see how long we were sitting on the grid, there was no 6 seconds there. Its 6 seconds from when the red gets dropped and the person walks off the grid.

In regards to the Aussie boys efforts at Supernats, Kip Foster ran in Tag Masters was also in Senior Tag but gave that away ended up second in Tag Masters after a great four way scrap. David Sera started Senior Tag from grid 5 but got the hows your father at turn 2 and dropped write back eventually retiring.

Hey team. We got back to San Fran late last night after a long 12 hour drive. The racing was just unreal, it was so tuff, I have never been hit so many times or hit so many people as I did in the 3rd heat race.
I am a little disappointed with the 16th result as I feel I was fasted than Nelson Piquet Jr and Cyndie Allemann who both finished inside the top 10, this was just not achievable with such a bad starting spot of 25 due to my DNF in the first heat race.
But all and all it was great fun and have to say a quick thanks to my sponsors: GP Karts, R & R Powersports, Turbotraders, Aluminos and Dave Brays Chassis Shoppe.

Thanks to all of your guys support through out the meeting to.

Daniel
