Yeah I took the banter in good fun. I don't agree with what your and steve's idea of being good for the sport is. Anyway I'm off for the evening - got cache problems with this site.

Ahh tyres, shame we are not Jetski’s, anyway good question given no matter what you do with tyres someone will be unhappy.

Firstly the Bridgestone issue was delicate, obviously KSNZ did not want to get into a costly legal battle to cancel the contract bearing in mind it is always a challenge to clearly illustrate performance issues especially when up against a global Tyre empire. We had numerous meetings with the factory and thankfully a mutually agreeable solution was found to cease the supply contract. Unfortunately that left us with no tyres for the NI’s.

A short-term contract was put in place with Vega after representations from a number of drivers including the FormulaS club who were happy with this as an interim solution. Plus tyres could be here by NI. KSNZ had also noted issues with MG’s recently overseas and here including a tyre coming off the rim at Hamilton.

Alternatives will be investigated for next contract period as per normal unless clubs indicate otherwise through a rule change round. You might like to know that at the last tender round for this class of tyres NO ONE other than Bridgestone tendered hopefully they will next time.

By the way the Vega’s may in fact be cheaper overall than the past tyres that did not often last a meeting. I have found in Open (KZ2 engine) that we can easily get 2 or more meetings from Vega fronts so if that makes just 6 tyres every two meetings not all bad. Not sure how the more brutal 250’s go but let me know.
