Hi all

It is now just under a month untill the 2 day summer meeting at Manfeild on 25th and 26th Feb.
With this meeting and all it would be appreciated if nearly all entries could be received before the day to make life a lot easier on Saturday/race day morning.

Attached is another copy of the entry for and you can still enter on the day and pay as well but if I can get all your info and transponder numbers etc then the timing info at least can be loaded.

So for the couple of people that have entered early thanks as it helps.

So looking forward to this being a great start to the 2012 series.

The manfeild 2 day meeting is going to be a big car one as well so you will get to watch some good car racing as well as show the car guys how to lap fast !!

This weekend is the last Superkart meeting for the year at Hampton Downs ,Sunday 30th Oct and the weather is still looking good at this stage.

Please remember that all senior drivers are welcome to come and have some fun at Hampton Downs on Sunday and you just need a license to have some fun and you could possibly get a Road rating while you are there as well.
We will be running all the Superkart classes including yamaha if some would like to get those clutches out and have some fun as well.

7.45 – 8.30 am Scrutineering & Confirmation of Entries

8.30- 9.00 Drivers Briefing

Entry fee is $200 (due to track costs) and you can enter on the day.

So come and show how quick you can race around Hampton before the V8 Supertourers get there in Feb 2012.

Hi all

There is now only a couple of weeks till the next Superkart meeting at Hampton Downs on Sun 30th Oct.

We have a long weekend next week and some extra time for a few of you to get the karts all ready to rumble for Hampton Downs !

Any of you that want to get some testing/practice in for next year, this is the last one so make the most of the track time and show how quick you can go versus the V8 Super tourers

Remember that all senior classes are more than welcome to attend and in sprint bodywork format or with Superkart flaring's as well !

So lets make this last meeting for the year a good strong turnout and with some good size fields and maybe even a few yamaha’s again ? And you are more than welcome.

You can pre pay your entry via internet banking prior if that’s easier for you and just use your name as a reference or on the day as well ! Entry fee to just cover the track costs etc is $200

Cheques payable to Superkart Drivers Club of NZ inc or Bank Acc 020528 0163174 00 your name to be used as a reference.

To the couple of you that have said you are coming thanks and it will make things easier on the day with the timing system info that we have to transfer over so you get lapscored !

All entries are welcome upto the end of registration on race day morning.

Track opens at 7-30 and Registration / scrutineering till 8-30 then drivers briefing and then track time will start !

So we look forward to seeing you all there.

Regards

Ross

Hi all

Only 3 months left in 2011 so lets make the last Superkart meeting a big one for the year !

It is coming up in a few weeks now ,on Sunday October 30th at Hampton Downs.

All senior superkart classes are welcome to come and have some fun on the big circuit even if you have not before or in the series this year.

You do not necessarily need special bodywork as your sprint bodywork works very well !

We may even see a few KT100’s showing how its done again with lots of good clutches and pipes still sitting in garages gathering dust.

The new pit shelters are available to hire for the day and you can share them with a few others to make it easier and cheaper.

The garages cost $300 per garage or $75 per quarter and I am told they are huge and 6 full cars do work out of them on a race day.

Booking phone Barbra at Hampton on 09 2806590.

Entry fee will be $200 due to the costs to use the track and officials needed and you can pay online in advance if that’s easier or cash/cheque on the day at registration.

Cheques payable to Superkart Drivers Club of NZ inc or Bank Acc 020528 0163174 00 and send to 31 Fisk St,Naenae ,Lower Hutt,Wellington 5011.

All things going well you may get a race each hour from 11am TBC on the day.

You can pre-enter and let me know your details to make the day easier and let me get most of the transponder numbers and your names to the timing people early rather than all on the day. Those that have raced this year I still have your details to make it easier.

You could set some good times to compare against what the new V8 Supertourers may get down to in Feb 17-19th 2012 at the first meeting of the series.

We are also having a demo session each day at the meeting (full bodied 250’s only sorry as requested by organizers ) so those of you that are wanting to do the demo please let me know,as this is by invite of the club only and restricted numbers !

We look forward to seeing you all at Hampton Downs in a few weeks.

The Hampton pit garages will be for hire and the cost is $300 per garage or $75 per quarter. They are huge and 6 full cars do work out of them on a normal race day.

If anyone would like to book they can phone Barbra at Hamptons on 09 2806590.

The next Superkart Drivers Club race meeting will be at Hampton Downs on Sun 30th October.

So please put this in you diaries and get as many along to enjoy the fun as you can.

Even if you have not raced this year or on the road before you are all welcome and that includes all senior superkart classes as well, including Yamaha !!

So make this last Superkart drivers club meeting for the year a big one and get some track time in on the new Hampton Downs Circuit, so you know what it feels like before the February 17-19th 2012 new V8 Super Tourer series starts !!
This looks like a great series with some top drivers coming to have some fun and also current and ex kart drivers as well on the entry list.
Superkarts could set a cracking lap time that the Super Tourers may be trying to get close to or beat !!

Any enquires please just drop us a line and we will try and help you.

Karting legend Martin Hines passes away
Sunday, August 28th 2011, 09:17 GMT

Karting legend Martin Hines has passed away at the age of 64.

Hines won 17 karting titles during a remarkable career, including FIA world championships in 1983, '91 and '92, five European titles, and six British crowns.

So synonymous was he with the sport he loved, he earned the moniker 'Mr Karting', and was something of a household name - alongside the likes of James Hunt and Barry Sheene - in the early '80s when Superkarts was still shown on terrestrial television.

Hines was equally successful off-track in the karting world and motorsport world.

Having formed his Zip Kart business in 1964, he not only built and prepared karts for aspiring youngsters at the top level of the karting scene, he acted as a mentor to several of Britain's leading racing drivers in recent decades through his Young Guns team.

David Coulthard, Lewis Hamilton, Anthony Davidson, Gary Paffett, Jason Plato, Oliver Turvey, Mike Conway and James Calado are just some of the active drivers who benefited from Hines' guidance during their formative years in motorsport.

Hines' son Luke also went into motor racing, establishing a successful career in touring cars and more recently sportscar racing.

In his autobiography Every Split Second Counts, published in 2008, Hines said: "Over the years people have said nice things about me and what I have done for karting, but it's only fair to say that, no matter how much I have given the sport, karting has given me much, much more in return.

"The thrill of watching kids such as Luke, DC, Gary Paffett, Jason Plato, Lewis Hamilton and all the others grow up into top-class racing drivers would in itself be enough reward."

Hines, who battled various personal tragedies through his life, including the loss of his daughter Kelly in 1998. He survived a life-threatening stomach cancer not long after that.

In recent years Hines had sought to expand his business interests and acquired Grand Prix Racewear in 2009, moving both this and his Zip Kart enterprise to Silverstone. He is also believed to have been considering setting up his own British Touring Car Championship team for 2012.

Hines was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, and died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Hi All

Race day this weekend on Taupo full circuit (Was A1 ) is only a couple of days away and I hope you have all your gear ready to come and have some fun !

The weather at this stage is still looking ok and Cloudy so hopefully that will stay !

There has been a track change to turn 12 (which is the chicane at the end of the main straight) as of Monday the 8th of August turn 12 has been moved back by 8 meters which will allow it to flow a lot better for the cars so it should be great for Karts and is designed to be better flowing for V8’s etc !

The Taupo Car Club will allow some of you to get some practice in on Saturday but this will only be on the short track, but you will be able to try the new corner change.
Remember you must pay with them before you enter on the track.

Once again all Senior Superkart Classes are welcome to come and have some fun and also any Yamaha’s as well !! There are plenty of clutches gathering dust if you need one,so just ask around and there is gear there to buy/borrow !

If you have never done Super karting before or not raced this year, you are all welcome to come and have some fun and see what its like and you do not need full bodywork to have some fun and some do with just the sprint bodywork.

If anyone want any help please just ask around or ask me and I will try an d help you all.
