X Rated cadets
Or even race against each other. It seams to me and I could be wrong but we seam to have a lot
Of new cadet drivers that clearly don't yet understand the flags. My son has been racing for around
A year now and when he started he had very little understanding of what the flags meant yet was
Allowed to race, now that he is at the other end of the field I can stand back a appreciate the dangers
That an untrained driver in the field brings to racing. Could we start them on a L plate system this would mean you have to know the rules before you can race, we must be able to improve in this area of safety somehow.
I personally think that the best way for an x rated driver to Learn is to race with the rated drivers
How ever this must be done safely. ?

Hi Carlos,
Seems perfectly sensible that new x rated drivers have to pass the written test in some form before they are allowed to race.
At least then they will know what to do with a blue flag etc.
With large cadet fields and huge speed differences between karts it must be scary for the little guys.
Perhaps splitting the field between rated and unrated is a good thing if there is sufficient numbers.
There is plenty of time for them to race with the fast guys when they have a bit more experience.

New drivers also have a X plate on there kart and start off the back of the grid so it is safer and less scray for them to start racing !

In the Auckland region there is a flag briefing for all unrated drivers before the main drivers briefing and at Mt Wellington the unrated cadets run as a seperate class.

Yeah but they still get in the way of the rated they just need to be in the class of there own and have a short 4 - 5 lap race with all the other un rated drivers

Yes I think you can see what I can someone is going to get hurt soon, a drivers briefing for x rated drivers would be a good start, splitting the fields is another good option as the numbers are now growing in our area, when you have an 8
lap race and some of the x rated drivers are getting lapped 4 times you don't have to think twice if that's the place for them to be. Thanks Darryl

Yes I have seen this in MW it works grate you do have good fields in your cadet classes I guess this just makes it
A no brainer when you have plenty of racers. I also would say that there is a lot less crashing and a lot more good
Racing because of this.

I agree with what Ethan said, X rated cadets should be run as a seperate class and be shorter races.
I think it would be a good idea if X rated cadet drivers should pass the paperwork first, at least the blue and yellow flag anyway.

many clubs already have 2 separate classes. for cadets. i think you will that its not the x rated karts as such that are the problem but those who have just taken off the x from the kart. they have not actually been grided before and its very scary on your first races to be gridded against those who hold race wins. perhaps we should still have a way of them not being on pole for the first few times to allow them to cope with the new pace , like a L plate. i know many people who still find grids hard to do, me included, its very scary when your driving against people who have been driving for many years.
perhaps on observation day to have the x taken off, they are gridded with the other drivers, to see how they cope before the x is allowed to be taken off. that way the other drivers automatically know to give a little more room to the x plate.
just a small thought
