Karters forum for informed discussion on all things Karting

I will try to keep everyone as up to date as I can.

Had a look at the track today. It is a very impressive facility. Pretty much what you would expect really.

Track has a lot more rubber than I have ever seen. My wheelchair wheels were sticking to it when I went for a track walk instead of rolling!

I have seen my kart already as they had to build my controls. I was not allowed to bring them. But I did bring my throttle cause that it the important part!

All the karts have a new larger radiator. It also comes with a flap that you can use to blank the top part. So no more cut up back number boards!

Just the standard cut pipe to vent the carbies to. Our blue shirts would have a fit handing out $50 fines to everyone. Oh yeah they only have 2 of them here by the sounds. Seems like our races might be a tad over staffed.

I cant wait to drive on a proper rubbered track in a dd2, goodtimes!

well done to you all. as i think this is the first time for many of the drivers( i may be wrong) , they have learnt so much and will be there next year, to all be on the podium. congrats to you all. you have done us all proud.
The Last Word From TC
The 11th instalment of the Rotax World Finals has been and gone for another year. Having attended 9 and competed at 2 of these it has been amazing watching the event grow into what it is today.

From the very first event in 2000 in Southern America's island of Puerto Rico, 66 drivers in one class from 19 nations. What a transformation to this years event at Italy's most renowned kart facility, La Conca with 252 drivers across 4 classes from 55 nations.

This year our drivers wore the Sliver Fern proudly on there suits and gave it 110%. As kiwis we have naturally always gone well at this event with or "Can do" attitude and willingness to dig in and help each other. This year was no exception with the NZ team helping each other in anyway needed, weather cheering from the stands or giving each other a hand shake and in congratulations or in some of cases commiserations.

Andy Schofeild put on a stella performance in what could be rated as one of the hardest junior fields in the world. All though Andy did not make the finals his speed showed that he deserved to be there and would have raced with the best of them if he was. Josh Hart done us all proud with his 2nd place, speaking on a personal note i found this a fitting tribute to his late father Ray and all the Hart family, i know i certainly had a tear in my eye when i got to congratulate Josh and know that Ray would have been proud. Matthew Hamilton backed up his podium from last year in great style with another 3rd this year. The fact that Matt has had little time in a DD2 kart before this event is testament to his skill and adaptability as a driver.

Our masters were part of history being the first to compete in a masters only DD2 class and also one of them being the first ever paraplegic driver at the Rotax World Finals.
Hamish showed great promise and was odds on for a podium but his crash in sundays morning warm-up was the story of things to come and his day just got worse from there. Still a huge effort by Hamish with many other commitments back home he gave it his all and done NZ proud. Niki was a story from the get go and made us all proud to be kiwis when seeing Niks interview on the event website, he was a popular man and we were proud to be there with him. His results were a huge effort for Nik and know he would have liked much better but i know as a team we were well happy with what he had achieved.

Thank you to all who emailed, rang and txt the team. It means a lot when you are half way around the world with a Silver Fern on your suit and NZ flag in your hand.

Next year onto the UAE at Al Ain raceway were we have had a good showing in the past.........can this be repeated........I know so.
